Salem Hills Cross Country Team Camp 2011

Well Team, it's time for our first annual Team Camp! The coaches just got down from the site of our camp, and it is going to be AWESOME!!!! We've got some incredible clinics lined up, some awesome runs, some good food and a TON of fun! You DEFINITELY will not want to miss these three days!

If you are planning on being with us, please RSVP to Coach Thompson at bart.thompson@nebo.edu by Monday, July 4th to let us know! You'll need to get a permission slip signed and returned prior to camp as well. You can get this paperwork from the Coaches Tuesday or Wednesday morning at 7 am at the school!

MAPLE LAKE
Also, we had our first Thursday night run the other night, and we had a GREAT time!! We ran up to Maple Lake and the Grotto. The weather was great, the lake was beautiful, and the falls were FRIGID!!! Here's some pictures!

Coach's Bio--Bart Thompson

Coach Thompson is originally from Plain City, UT, where he graduated from Fremont High School in 1996. He ran Track and Cross-country all through high school where he was a 6-time letterman, and a two-year captain in both sports.

He graduated from BYU in 2002 with a degree in Social Studies Education, and earned a Masters from SUU in Educational Leadership. He has taught at Spanish Fork Middle School (one year) and Spanish Fork High School (five years), and now Salem Hills High School for the past 10 years.

Coach Thompson is excited to continue building a winning tradition at Salem Hills High School. We have built a great foundation for winning, and he is looking forward to continuing to build a successful program. It is such a great experience!

Coach's Bio--Jen Hughes

Coach Hughes is originally from Southern California where she was an exceptional high school distance runner at Royal High School in Simi Valley. She is still listed on their top 10 list in multiple events.

Since high school, Coach Hughes has become one of the premiere distance runners in the area among road racing circuits. She has won countless races over the past 10 years (which is how she can afford to coach...)

Coach Hughes joined Salem Hills coaching staff in the school's 2nd year (2009-10) first as the track team's distance coach, then adding her Cross Country responsibilities before the 2011-12 season. She has been an incredible addition to our program and she is excited to be helping kids gain a love of running!
