End of Season

And just like that the season has come to an end and it is time to look back on the past few months and celebrate the progress we made and success we experienced together!  Here's some information as we end the season:

Season Results
All of our Team results for the season can be found online at www.athletic.net.  You can search for Salem Hills High School (or just click HERE).  This is a great resource, as you can look at all your personal times, or the team times, or compare your times from past years, etc, etc.  

California
For all the athletes traveling to California next month, please make sure all your fees are paid at the finance office and you have registered for the race.  Registration is online at www.footlockercc.com.  Also, please be sure you have all your detentions cleared through 1st term!  Also, remember you are required to continue to be to practice each day! (see the schedule below)

Pre-Footlocker Race
There will be a Pre-Footlocker Race Saturday, November 8th @ American Fork High School.  It is a great race to keep us in racing form for Footlocker!  More information will be coming at practice!  Plan on being there!

Post-Season Practices
We are still practicing each day, although our schedule has changed a bit.  We have FORMAL team practices each Mon, Wed and Thursday.  These days are absolutely mandatory.  On Tuesday and Friday we have CAPTAIN-LED practices.  These are generally quicker and less formal.  You are still expected to be to practice on these days.  However, if you HAVE to miss practice for a valid reason, make it on Tuesday or Friday!

Team Banquet
It's time to gather once again as teammates and parents and celebrate your hard-work and progress!  It is a great evening and we want all our athletes and their parents to be in attendance.  We will have the dinner catered once again, probably by Smokehouse BBQ once again.  We will pay for the athletes, and we are asking for $8.00/parent to help cover most of the costs of their dinner.  Here's the specifics:

Location:  Salem Hills High School Cafeteria
Who:  All Salem Hills Cross Country runners and their parents
Cost:  Athletes--Free;  parents--$8.00/parent

Pre-Region Results and Team Gear

PRE-REGION RESULTS

Last night we competed in the first meet of our 2014 Cross Country Season, and it was a great start for our team! We competed against our Region VIII competitors at Provo's Kiwanis Park. Our girls finished in 3rd place overall, led by McKenzie Cowden, Haley Johnston, Kailey Ritchie, Katie Grass and Amber Edmondson as our scoring Varsity runners. The boys finished 2nd place overall, led by RJ Lundberg, Chayden Zeeman, Ramato Cooper, Nathan Chesnut and Devin Minson as our scorers for the team. It was a solid start for both teams, and we look forward to moving forward from here! You can find the complete results HERE.

Our next opportunity to improve is THIS WEEKEND at the Wasatch Invitational @ Soldier Hollow.  Here is the information:

Let the Season Begin!

Well, here we are!  Another summer is in the books and another season is upon us!  The summer flew by, and now it's time to get to work!  Here's what's going on this first week:

RUNNING CLINIC HOSTED BY ENDURANCE ATHLETICS
Endurance Athletics is a brand new running store in Spanish Fork that is putting on a Running Clinic exclusively for the Salem Hills Cross Country Team.  The owner, Tyler Shepherd, is bringing in professional runners and experts in the industry to spend a few minutes with our team discussing topics such as:

• Running form
• Racing strategy
• Injury prevention
• Injury care and treatment
• Running shoe(s) selection

Where:  Endurance Athletics--735 N Main St.  Spanish Fork (in parking lot with The Italian Place)

PRE-REGION MEET

WASATCH INVITATIONAL

This weekend we will travel to Soldier Hollow in Heber Valley to race in one of our favorite races of the year (albeit a month earlier than usual!)  Soldier Hollow is a challenging, fun course that will test our team to start the season.  We're looking forward to the challenge!  Here's the details:

When:  Saturday, August 23rd, 2014
Location:  Soldier Hollow
Directions:  From Provo, take US 189 through Provo Canyon.  Immediately at the end of Deer Creek Reservoir, turn left onto Route 113 and follow the signs to Soldier Hollow.

Departure:  Bus leaves at 6:55 AM from Salem Hills High School

2014 Season

Our 2014 Cross Country Season is just around the corner!!!

We will be having our Team Meeting on Thursday, May 22nd after school.  We'll meet in the SHHS Cafeteria!  Come, and bring your friends!  We want to have the biggest team yet this season and hope you will join us!!
